Equity Watch was formed in early 2018, after firefighter Liane Tessier finally received an apology and promises of reform from the Halifax Fire Service after years of harassment, bullying and discrimination. But even the best promises need to be monitored constantly and consistently by citizens. It was then that a small, but determined, group of citizens decided it was time to hold the feet of government, employers and the Human Rights Commission to the fire in the pursuit of employment equity for all workers. Since 2018, Equity Watch has been devoted to helping people navigate human rights issues, advocating for better labour practices, educating people on various topics from workers rights, tenants rights, how to navigate the human rights commission and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date Equity Watch has written a detailed report on the NS Human Rights regime, detailing its faults and adding suggestions to make it better.
